About Dental Hygiene

Good oral hygiene is essential to maintain good dental health and so keep your teeth for life. Studies have proven that regular visits to your Hygienist are vital in keeping your teeth and gums healthy. It also ensures a whiter smile and helps keep breath fresher too!

At 53 Wimpole Street, we have implemented a preventative attitude to Dentistry. This means our dedicated and expertly qualified Dentists and Hygienists work hand-in-hand to ensure you and your family receive the best preventative Dental Care.

Our very own in-house Hygienists, Charlotte, Marcia and Talie will clean your teeth and guide you on how best to maintain good oral hygiene at home. We also recently introduced a state of the art Air Polishing system that we can now offer to all of our patients to help remove even the most stubborn stains. All of the dentists screen our patients for signs of gum inflammation and the earliest signs of gum disease.

If dental plaque is left to stagnate on your teeth it can lead to gum irritation and bleeding. When left untreated, the bacteria and their effects ultimately result in infected gums, which eventually lead to tooth loss.

Tooth decay is increasing in prevalence in infants, children and adults in the population. It is caused by certain bacteria in the dental plaque so good oral hygiene will reduce the risk of dental decay. Bacteria thrive, causing gum irritation and bleeding.

Regular professional cleaning with the hygienist will stabilize any gum problems you may have and limit your need for dentistry.
